Where to put the sink?

Okay, so you’ve finally found your dream sink for your new kitchen renovation. If you don’t already have it figured out, then it’s time to start thinking about where you’re going to put that sink. For several beneficial reasons, sinks have traditionally been placed under a window if the kitchen has any. Nowadays, there are various factors to consider so there’s no single best position for all kitchens. We’ve listed a few positions below that might suit your new kitchen.
The simple reason why kitchen sinks have traditionally been placed under the window is because of existing plumbing. If you’re on a tight budget, remodelling your kitchen using existing plumbing will more than likely save you costs. Its definitely possible to renovate and remodel a new kitchen using an existing layout.
What about a view?
Another reason sinks under windows are so popular is because they can provide a nice view. As a primary work station in the kitchen, a lot of time is usually spent at the sink whether your prepping food or washing dishes. Having something to look at other than just a wall will make spending time in the kitchen a little less dull.
Face your guests
If you don’t have a window to look out to or especially if you have an open kitchen facing a dining room, consider positioning your sink to allow you to face your family or guests. It will allow you to prep or clean up in the kitchen while still conversing with your guests or keep an eye on the kids.
Pair your appliances
Another popular choice is to position your sink to pair with your appliances, particularly your dishwasher. Having your sink close to your dishwasher will make loading the dishwasher easier and more efficient.
If you have an island layout kitchen or a large household which usually hosts guests, multiple sinks can be a great idea. You will obviously need a larger space and budget to accommodate but it can be worthwhile. Typically, there is one main sink under the window or facing the dining room with a second sink or prep sink in the island or peninsula. Multiple sinks also allow for several people to be working in the kitchen at the same time.
